Patna Golf Club

This is one of the oldest golf clubs in the country and is the virtual lungs of Patna. To provide themselves with a Gymkhana for outdoor sports the 'white' bureaucracy formed the South Bihar Gymkhana Club in 1916 to maintain in the New capital a golf course, tennis court, cricket ground and two polo grounds. Post-independence the nomenclature was changed to Patna Golf Club as polo had gone out of favour, tennis had shifted to the New Patna Club and the ground was being used only for golf, Screened by copses and serviced by sprinklers its lush green ambience is seen to be believed. It is fast becoming and integral part of the tourist circuit.
