Kumrahar Excavation

Kumrahar Excavations is the place which consists of the archaeological excavations sites of Patliputra related to ancient capital of Kings : Ajatshatru, Chandragupta and Ashok who ruled Magadh during different time periods. It is located 6 kms east of Patna junction railway station. There lies the ruins of the huge assembly hall which stood on  few large pillars dating back to Mauryan period. The foundation of the brick Buddhist monastery known as Anand Bihar. All the pillars were made of the black spotted buff sandstone monoliths with lustrous shine of the typical Mauryan period. Most important findings of this excavation include copper coins, ornaments, antimony rods, beads of terracotta , stone dices of terracotta and ivory, terracotta seals and sealings, toy carts, terracotta figurines of human, bird and animals and some earthen utensils.
